Position Summary:
Athletics Nova Scotia is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Meet Director to oversee and execute all logistics related to ANS-hosted track and field meets. This is a part-time contract role, ideal for an experienced event professional with a love for sport and a flair for organization. As the Meet Director, you will be the face of the organization on event days, ensuring a seamless experience for athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators.  This role reports to the Technical Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of ANS-hosted track and field meets.
  • Liaise with facility partners, officials, volunteers, and staff to ensure all meet-day logistics are in place.
  • Oversee event setup, execution, and takedown.
  • Ensure compliance with Athletics Canada competition rules and safety standards.
  • Serve as the on-site point of contact during meets, representing Athletics Nova Scotia with professionalism and enthusiasm.
  • Support event communications and troubleshooting before, during, and after events.
  • Provide post-event reports and recommendations for future improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in sport event planning or operations, preferably in athletics/track and field.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Calm under pressure with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Available to work flexible hours, including weekends and some travel across the province.
  • Knowledge of Athletics Canada competition structure is an asset.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation preferred.

 

Contract Details:

  • Part-time contract: Up to 160 hours per calendar year
  • $40/hour compensation
  • Workload is seasonal and event-based, with the majority of hours occurring in the spring and summer months.
