Athletics Nova Scotia Partners with Stewart McKelvey to Remove Barriers for Youth Athletes Across the Province

HALIFAX, NS – Athletics Nova Scotia is proud to announce a new partnership with Stewart McKelvey, Atlantic Canada’s largest law firm, to make track and field accessible to every child in the province. The Firm has stepped forward as the exclusive corporate partner to help remove financial barriers for all Nova Scotian children under the age of 12 for the upcoming year.

Nova Scotia is home to incredible natural beauty and a vibrant sporting community, yet for many families from Yarmouth to Sydney, the cost of registration remains a significant hurdle. This initiative is designed to "tear down the barrier," ensuring that a child’s opportunity to run, jump, throw or wheel is determined by their potential and passion, not by their financial circumstances.

"This isn’t just about sports; it’s about equity," said Anitra Stevens , Executive Director for Athletics Nova Scotia. "We believe every child deserves the chance to get active and enjoy the benefits of athletics. By removing the cost of membership, we are ensuring that accessibility is a reality for families in every community, both rural and urban."

Stewart McKelvey’s support creates a tangible, high-impact legacy for youth development in Nova Scotia. This partnership allows hundreds of families to say "yes" to sport this year, providing a foundation for fitness, discipline, and community connection.

Athletics Nova Scotia is the provincial governing body for track and field, cross country, and road racing. Through this collaboration, the organization continues its mission to grow the sport and support athletes at every level of ability.
