  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of their employment;

  • Have a valid social insurance number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Please NOTE:  These are contract positions between May - August 2025.  Anticipated start and end dates to be confirmed, based on funding approval. 

Position 1:  Athletics Nova Scotia is now hiring our next Administrative Assistant to support administration and operations of the organization. This position includes both administrative tasks and occasional field work (ie. Event coordination and support). This role will report to the Executive Director.

 Primary Job Responsibilities:

  1. Support the Athletics NS Executive Director with administrative tasks related to reporting, grant writing, sponsorships and partnerships.

  2. Support the administrative tasks related to membership management. 

  3. Support with the executing Athletics NS marketing & communications strategy.

  4. Support the Executive Director with records management. Ensure all documents and information on the BC Athletics website are up to date.

  5. Coordinate merchandise program and team uniform distribution.

  6. Support other Athletics NS duties, as needed. 

Experience, Requirements and Beneficial Skills:

  • Previous experience or education in sports administration or management.

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs and other technology platforms.

  • Proficiency using social media platforms as a marketing & communication tool.

  • Detail oriented and highly organized.

  • Proficient in data management (ie. Excel).

  • Completion of CAC Safe Sport Training.

  • Willingness to obtain a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.

  • Driver’s License and access to a vehicle.

  • This position may require lifting and moving equipment at event venues.

 

Position 2: Athletics Nova Scotia is now hiring our next Program Assistant to support initiatives and programs in our Grassroots and Community Programs portfolio.  The ideal candidate will be excited to promote grassroots track & field programs throughout Nova Scotia, by introducing communities, municipalities, and/or clubs to grassroots programs and recruiting RJTW Leaders to facilitate these programs.  This position includes both administrative tasks and field work (ie. instructing Run Jump Throw Wheel camps, event coordination etc).  This role will report to the Athletics NS Program and Events Coordinator and Executive Director. 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate opportunities for Run Jump Throw Wheel, Mini Legends and Fastest Kid activations across Nova Scotia.

  2. Assign and communicate with program leaders to lead community activations.

  3. Track & analyze participation statistics in all programs.

  4. Help compile relevant resources for members & clubs.

  5. Support Athletics NS based track and field meets. 

  6. Support with other Athletics NS events, as needed.

  7. Assist with coordinating a social media strategy to promote our programs and events. 

  8. Help Create promotional materials and newsletter content.

  9. Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Experience, Requirements and Beneficial Skills:

  • Previous experience in teaching or coaching children & youth, AND you enjoy doing this!

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs and other technology platforms.

  • Experience in planning, development, and delivery of programs.

  • Detail oriented and highly organized.

  • Completion of the NCCP Run Jump Throw Wheel Leader course as Trained or Certified, or willing to be trained.

  • Completion of CAC Safe Sport Training.

  • Willingness to obtain a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.

  • Driver’s License and access to a vehicle.
