ABOUT THE POSITITION

As a Coordinator, you will be on the front line of delivery of all track and field grassroots programs in Nova Scotia.  You are a dynamic, inspiring and reliable leader who connects easily with people and are comfortable working independently in a rapidly changing environment.  The primary focus of this job will be to assist Athletics Nova Scotia in reaching 4500 after school program participants in the Halifax area. 

You have strong project management skills, the ability to prioritize, and are comfortable speaking and interacting with small and large groups.  You are well versed in the fundamentals and delivery of Run, Jump, Throw, Wheel however your real strengths will lie in mentoring instructors; providing direction to new programs, and supporting established programs. 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively seek to expand Nova Scotia’s network of delivery partners
  • Coordinate and deliver of Run-Jump-Throw-Wheel in after school programs
  • Provide day-to-day support to Run-Jump-Throw-Wheel delivery partners including schools, clubs, municipalities, community associations and other program partners
  • Coordinate delivery of Run, Jump, Throw, Wheel awareness and promotions initiatives within Nova Scotia
  • Support efforts to engage and support school-based athletics by coordinating outreach activities and support Nova Scotia school based programs

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduate or current university student with an interest in Physical Education, Teaching, Kinesiology, Coaching, Sport, Recreation or other related field
  • Experience managing and delivering sport programs within community and/or school setting
  • Knowledge and experience in Run, Jump, Throw, Wheel and/or other first contact instructional programs for children
  • Proven organizational and project management skills and ability to multi task is required
  • Exceptional communication skills using all medias
  • Please note: A candidate that is not currently trained as a RJTW Instructor or Learning Facilitator will be expected to complete this training in the early stages of the position

COMPENSATION

Compensation will be $20 per hour plus mileage. 

PLEASE NOTE:  We will be hiring up to 2 people local to the Halifax area for this role.  The main hours of work will be in the after school time frame, from approx 3pm to 5pm weekdays.   These 2 staff will take turns delivering programs, based on availability.  Current criminal record check and child abuse registry check will be required.
