Athletics NS Awards Banquet
Truro NS - Athletics NS held an awards banquet this past Saturday, March 1st at the Best Western Hotel in Truro. Close to 100 attendees came together to celebrate the accomplishments of Nova Scotia Athletes, Coaches, Officials, and Volunteers in the sport of athletics over the 2013 year.
Athletics NS awards were presented in 17 different categories, including male and female athletes of the year, official of the year, volunteer of the year, and coaching excellence.
Criteria for determining athlete winners included best performances, honours won, and records attained. Criteria for determining volunteer and official winners included relevant accomplishments and level of participation. Coach excellence awards were determined based on coaching accomplishments and appointments. Any other relevant information was considered in determining winners in all categories.
With over 45 nominations, 18 were selected as recipients of 2013 Athletics NS awards:
